BreakThrough Inc. was created by Christopher Patterson, a vet
eran of the foster care system. Like so many children, Chris was bounced from home to home until he was adopted by a foster family at the age of four. He was placed back into foster care with his younger brother at the age of twelve. Later, after being placed with a fantastic foster family, Chris graduated from Riverside High School. From there he entered the Job Corps in Wauconda, Washington, graduating in the Forestry Program.

After graduation Chris moved back to Spokane, Washington and began attending Spokane Community College. He received multiple Associate’s degrees in Administration of Justice, Fire Science, and Liberal Arts. Following his graduation from community college Chris attended Eastern Washington University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Childhood Educational Psychology. During this time he also became a graduate of Leadership Spokane.

Chris’s life is one of perseverance and unwillingness to give up on his future. He sets a terrific example for those around him and proves that hard work can take you far in life.

Chris has always been interested in the field of Social Services: He has worked in many different settings, from private group homes for children to special programs for developmentally disabled adults. Chris has a special passion for working with children, which he attributes to his own childhood in the foster care system. Chris believes that you do not turn your back on a child when he is going through a difficult time. “You are obligated to provide a safe, consistent environment,” Chris says, and this is a cornerstone of his Specialized Youth Treatment Program for BreakThrough Inc.
